Natural Gathering Grounds
UX Designer - Web & Mobile Redesign
Project Overview
The Problem
Natural Gathering Grounds needed to refresh their previous website to make their offerings more clear to users. Users had expressed frustration with not knowing how to book day passes to visit the grounds, and confusion around what exactly was offered there. The goal was to redesign the site in a more cohesive way that allowed users to easily navigate to the offerings they were most interested in.
Process
After meeting with the owner to gather user feedback they’d received and understand their goals for the new site, I started with a thorough website audit. After defining the issues and limitations users were experiencing within the current site, I created information architecture and wireframes for the new website, carefully including remedies for all pain points from my research. The offerings at Natural Gathering Grounds are robust, and it took me many ideations in this phase to nail down the best structure. Next, I worked from my wireframes to create a high-fidelity prototype for the Natural Gathering Grounds team to approve in Squarespace. Finally, after completing a usability study and making a few tweaks to the designs, I launched the new site.
Outcome
My approach was to simplify the Grounds’ main offerings to Weddings, Gatherings, and Accommodations, and include a very clear “Book Now” button at the navigation that would allow users to easily book their visit. We also added a scheduling app that would let users easily book their visit and sign all liability forms related to their visit at the same time. The result was an easy-to-navigate website that led to improved clarity for the user, and increased bookings for Natural Gathering Grounds.
